Obesity is characterised by unusual weight gain and accumulation of fat due to the improper food habits, taking more calories than you burn and lack of exercise. WHAT IS THE CAUSE OF OBESITY?

Obesity is mainly caused when the food intake is increased and body mobility is decreased. When the consumption of fats and sugars have increased and it is not fully burnt off through exercises or other physical activity, the surplus energy is stored in the body as fat. Some other causes are: 1. Genetics 2. Carbohydrate rich diet 3. Increased frequency of eating 4. Psychological factors 5. Medication 6. Diseases like hypothyroidism, polycystic ovarian syndrome etc.

Obesity is a lifestyle disorder and it is treatable. By following a healthy diet, eating accordingly, exercising regularly and maintaining a healthy lifestyle one can control their BMI and maintain the optimum weight according to their height.
