Udwarthanam

Udwarthanam can be explained as a special therapeutic deep tissue massage using herbal powders.  Udwarthanam literally  means to elevate or to promote. This massage involves only upward stroking, where the powder is rubbed forcibly on the body against the direction of hair growth. Classical treatises on Ayurveda explain this procedure as a daily routine.
